Even though it was winter, she instructed Juan to pick flowers on the hillside. He found beautiful, fragrant Castilian roses. "Take these roses to the bishop," she said, as she herself re-arranged them in his cloak. Upon meeting the bishop Juan revealed his treasure, which was stored in his tilma. Upon opening his cloak, the image of the Virgin of Guadalupe miraculously appeared imprinted on the cloth. All fell to their knees in recognition of the great miracle."
